COVID-19 at FUMCO

Currently, there are no known cases of COVID-19 directly involving anyone associated with FUMCO. However, following the recommendations of state and federal officials and our Cal-Pac Bishop, Rev. Grant Hagiya, we are suspending all services and in person meetings as of Monday, March 16.

A Message from the FUMCO Staff

March 17, 2020
To our FUMCO Family,

We will be trying to send out words of encouragement to your inbox each day during the week. While we must keep some personal distance we want to stay connected with each of you the best that we can. You can count on emails being sent much earlier in the day than this one--taping, editing, and uploading a video like this was a first for all of us, and we'll do a better job tomorrow.

An Update on COVID-19 and First United Methodist Church of Orange Royalty Free Music from Bensound

As many of you will have heard by now, our bishop sent out a message last night instructing all churches in Cal-Pac not to hold public worship services. Our A/V staff and volunteers have been working for the last two days to try to find a way to livestream worship through either our website or our facebook page. Our plan is to be live on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. We will send out information on how to access the stream later in the week.

As of Tuesday evening, we intend for the office to remain open during our normal operating hours (9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday to Friday), but we are suspending all meetings and on-campus activities during this time. Our sack lunch program will continue.

Online Giving and Text-to-Give

If this is your first time using online giving, fear not! Breeze is secure and easy to set up, and allows for one time gifts or recurring donations. You can also direct your gift(s) to different ministries, although the default is the General Fund.

To set up online giving:

  1. Visit fumco.breezechms.com/give/online

  2. Type in the amount you'd like to give and select the payment method and fund from the dropdown menus

  3. Type in either your credit card or bank routing and account numbers and select the frequency of the gift (one time or recurring)

  4. Hit the "Donate Now" button on the bottom.

To set up text-to-give:

  1. Text the number of dollars that you would like to give to (714) 710-1928. (See image)

  2. You will get a quick response with a link to set up your payment method. Click that.

  3. Confirm the amount you want to give and select the payment method and fund from the dropdown menus.

  4. Type in either your credit card or bank routing and account numbers and select the frequency of the gift

  5. Hit the "Donate Now" button on the bottom of the page.

A quick note about online giving: the church does lose a small percentage of each gift to processing fees. Those fees are 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction for credit and debit card payments, or 1% + $0.25 per transaction for ACH payments. You can choose whether or not you factor this into your gifts, but rest assured that your giving statement will reflect the amount of money that is coming out of your account, not the amount that the church receives.

If you have any questions related to online giving, please contact Sam at (714) 532-6363 or [email protected].

That's all for tonight. Please know that your staff and the A.I.M. team are holding each of you in prayer during this time. You can look forward to a more spiritual communication from us tomorrow.

Faithfully Yours,
The FUMCO Staff

General COVID-19 Information

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It also may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

Symptoms

• fever
• cough
• shortness of breath

How can I help protect myself?

People can help protect themselves from respiratory illness with everyday preventive actions.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
