December 7:
Christmas Craft
Workshop

Every year at the beginning of Advent, we hold a craft workshop in Messenger Hall. We serve light refreshments and play festive music while you and the family move around the room working on various crafts. This year, we've installed a kiln on the church campus, so you'll be able to paint ornaments and decorations and pick them up later in the season. This event is always a blast for all ages, and a great way to kick off the Advent Season. There is a nominal fee for each craft (usually $1-$5) to help cover the cost of the materials.

This year, the Christmas Craft Workshop will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 1pm to 4pm.

December 9:
Caroling to FUMCO Shut-Ins

December 9 will be our traditional Christmas-caroling to our church members who are not able to attend worship on a regular basis. We meet at 3:00pm in Messenger Hall to get split into groups and plan our routes. Then we carpool to the homes of various church members. When we return to church (around 5:00pm), our Sanctuary Choir provides a soup supper. All ages are welcome to attend!

December 12:
Caroling Under the Stars

Join us as we gather in the church courtyard to sing the carols of the season! We'll start at 5:30pm on Wednesday, December 12. Our church patio will be set up with tables, chairs, heaters, and refreshments, and we'd love to have all of our neighbors join us!

Blue? Yes, blue as in "the blues" or "I am feeling blue." Not everyone is up and cheery for the Christmas holidays. The Christmas season can be a very lonely, depressing "blue" time for those grieving a loss of a loved one, a job, health or other issues. It may be "blue" for those who are all alone when others are partying and gathering with family members. Many people feel out of step with what society demands at this time of year. It is important, then, that we need to make the space and take the time to acknowledge our feelings.

You are not alone, and so I invite you to come and join me for a quiet, reflective time for solace and strength at our Blue Christmas Service on Friday, December 21 at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary. Even in times of sadness and concern, God's Word comes to shine light into our darkness regardless of where we are. We are a community forged by our hope in Christ, especially in this season of Christmas; so let God speak to your deepest longings.

This service will feature the Eng Family Bell Ringers!

Our 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, December 23 will feature our combined Sanctuary and Skyword Choirs for our annual Christmas Cantata.

December 23:

Christmas Eve falls on a Monday this year, and FUMCO will be having two services. At 6:30 p.m., we'll have our traditional Christmas Eve worship service, and our Candlelight Communion worship service will start at 11:00 p.m.
